about kyoko

i am a licensed minister trained in Earth-based ways of prayer. during my formal, five-year ministerial education, i studied with spiritual elders from around the world, learning birth, death, ceremonial processes, and rituals from healers, medicine teachers, tribal and community leaders. these wisdom sharings opened deeper realms of archetypal and ancestral medicines for me. i continue to learn new sacred systems and am at the beginning of my studies in another ecological ministerial program.

my practice is born from an integral weaving with our shared, beloved mother Earth, Sun, and Moon. their wisdom, support, and loving reciprocity are the guiding foundations of my work. as an oracle, i connect with consciousness throughout time, ancestral and karmic patterning, and the elementals.

i am a formal student, mentored by Grandmother LánéSaán Moonwalker, a Yoeme and Apache elder from turtle island who carries two unbroken lineages. these traditions and practices, centered in working with nature in a sacred way, guide and shape my work and the ways that i live my life.

i am an usui reiki practitioner and a certified breath work facilitator.

in the spring of 2025, i will complete my practitioner training in somatic experiencing. i am currently at the advanced level of training.

i am the parent of a wild, magical child who challenges and grows me, deepening my roots and strengthening my relationship with the natural world. she is my greatest teacher.

i’m a queer, non-binary, mixed-race healer of color who holds a B.A. in gender and women’s studies from the university of minnesota.

my Jōmon ancestors and their descendants walk closely with me, teaching and anchoring me in traditions and medicines from my ancestral homelands. i study extensively with teachers and mentors in order to hold this wisdom respectfully and responsibly.

i am member of an intergenerational japanese american activist community in los angeles, california, the same diaspora my grandfather was uprooted from in the mass incarceration of 120,000 japanese americans during world war ii.

informed by my own powerful healing experiences, i have sought extensive training in supporting healing processes from complex and layered trauma, including intersections of survivorship, chronic illness, disability, and racism. i have such extraordinary gratitude for the unexpected ride that led me to this vocation.

i am a writer, artist, herb-growing potion alchemist, environmental guardian, lover of ritual, ceremonialist, lifelong musical dabbler, animal communicator, light and shadow dancer, community organizer, candlemaker, mountainside steward, engaged parent, loving child, and committed partner.

you can often find me, a german shepherd, and a little human sleeping in a tent under tall trees on a mountain somewhere between hawaii and colorado.
